The wind swirls around me, warm from the southwest
Reminding me of dream and childhood.
Wind in the trees, a constant soundtrack
With ever changing tones, intensity and volume.
I sit, letting the wind take away all my burdens
Clearing my aura, lifting my soul.
Summer’s electric shaver bugs whir into the soundtrack
When the wind through the leaves gently stirs.
Sunshine dappled on the forest floor
Ever moving spots of light bring warmth then cool.
A moth flutters along my bare legs
Making itself known, tickling me with its soft wings.
My dog companion enjoys it as well
Nose lifted to read the scents as they drift by.
Once only us and the wind, now the sounds of people leak in
A lawn mower, an airplane, a distant motorcycle.
Always on the move, except for me today as I sit
Letting the wind carry away my cares.
No decisions of which color to paint the house
No concern of what’s for dinner or when it will be served.
Only the wind and the trees and the electric shaver bugs
In the warmth of summer.
The forest lights up as a cloud blows clear of the sun
Creating wondrous shades of green that fill the heart.
The cat arrives, jumping over the fence,
A hello meow first, now curled beneath the table.
Alone yet not, me, the dog, the cat
The moth, the trees, the wind, the birds, the noisy insects of summer.
Nature all of us, in this summer wind.
